
Attorney Brendan L. Cahalin helps clients experiencing many different types of challenging legal matters. He helps clients with matters including family law, criminal law, and general civil litigation. Brendan focuses on litigating matters utilizing his experience as a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney.
Brendan graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts where he developed an interest in law through Professor Emeritus Michael Dukakis, Professor Emeritus David Schmitt, and Associate Professor Michael Tolley. He received an award in 2009 for the Best Undergraduate Research Paper in Comparative Politics and International Relations. He went on to complete an extended Cooperative Education Internship with the law firm Michienzie and Sawin, LLC, in Boston, MA.
Brendan graduated from the University of Massachusetts School of Law where he was a Student Bar Representative. He interned with Electric Insurance Company's Regulatory Compliance Department and a local law firm representing large corporate creditors. After graduating law school and passing the Bar Exam, he represented the same corporate creditors' interests in New Hampshire before beginning with the Rockingham County Attorney's Office as a prosecutor. Brendan later prosecuted for Merrimack County as the primary prosecutor for the Merrimack County Drug Court program.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an indigent defense crisis occurring in New Hampshire. Judge John Kissinger publicly called upon attorneys to help “fill the gap” at the New Hampshire Public Defender. Brendan answered the call and was hired by the Public Defender where he served for several years.
In 2022, he served on the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire Coalition for Recovery Residences. He volunteers with the New Hampshire Lawyer's Assistance Program helping lawyers struggling with maladaptive coping mechanisms. In 2023, he received an award by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for his work in supporting mental health. Brendan has been published as a co-author in the Journal Progress in Cardiovascular Disease, Development and Implementation of a Worksite Health and Wellness Program: A Focus on Non-Communicable Disease (2015).
New Hampshire's rural landscape attracted Brendan after he spent so much of his time in Boston, MA. In his free time, Brendan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He enjoys cooking, music, and spending time outdoors.
